Fort Laramie National Historic Site - Fishing

The waters around Fort Laramie teem with fish that can be caught. Use the fishing guide at the TRACK Trail fishing sign to help you identify fish (like smallmouth bass and trout) and learn the essential skills to successfully reel them in.

Fort Laramie began as a fur trading post in 1834 but soon grew into the largest military outpost in the Northern Plains. Located on the historic Oregon Trail, its history crosses paths of U.S. Soldiers, Native Americans, pioneers, and fortune seekers. In addition to the TRACK Trail, visitors can also tour the restored buildings of the fort as well as numerous ruins. In the summer, interpreters in period dress bring the history of the fort alive.
