The Fort Hamby Nature Trail Disc Golf Course is a new addition to the W. Kerr Scott Dam and Reservoir Recreation Area. Located in the beautiful Yadkin River Valley, the course offers scenic views of the reservoir with a backdrop of rolling mountains.

This dynamic 18-hole course utilizes long and short tee pads for novice and advanced players, and features water hazards, uphills and downhills, and dense wooded areas.

Fort Hamby Park is located on the north side of W. Kerr Scott Reservoir in western North Carolina. The 1,475-acre reservoir offers excellent boating, canoeing, kayaking and swimming opportunities. Anglers will find channel catfish, large and smallmouth bass, bluegill, threadfin shad, spotted bass, hybrid striped bass and tiger muskellunge. Miles of hiking trails surround the lake, including the Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail. An additional 25 miles of mountain biking trails can be found at the Warrior Creek and Dark Mountain areas.

Whether in good shots or in actual birds, it's always good to see as many "Birdies" as possible during your round of disc golf. The "Birdies" scorecard/field-guide was designed to help players identify some of the more common birds found at Owen High School, and in the Blue Ridge Mountains. How many "Birdies" will you see during your round today?

Fort Hamby Nature Trail Disc Golf Course: "Tree Love" Scorecard

Trail length:
2.00 miles
When disc golfers hit a tree with their disc and get a favorable bounce, they call that “Tree Love”. Use the pictures on this scorecard to identify a few of the trees found here. Every time you hit a tree with your frisbee, take a second to try to identify it. Look at its bark, leaf shape and other identifying features. Soon, identifying trees will be as easy as making a five foot putt.
