We are excited to announce a further expansion of the Kids in Parks program into the national realm. Three new TRACK Trails opened on Saturday, September 7th in partnership with the San Diego County Department of Parks and Recreation. The Grand Opening ceremony was held at 9:30 AM at the San Elijo Lagoon Nature Center and was followed by activities along the trail.

The San Elijo Lagoon TRACK Trail is an ADA accessible, ¾ mile double-loop trail. It meanders through chaparral, salt marsh, and riparian woodland habitat abundant with plant and animal life. This 1,000 acre reserve serves as an important resting spot for the many birds that migrate thousands of miles along the Pacific Flyway. The Lindo Lake County Park TRACK Trail is an easy 1.4 mile loop around the lake. The park features two play areas, an historic boat house and picnic pavilions. The trail offers great opportunities to see the various wildlife that is attracted to the lake. Additional partners for this TRACK trail include the National Recreation and Parks Assocaition, and San Diego County Parks Soceity.

The Louis A. Stelzer County Park TRACK Trail is an easy/moderate 1.5 mile loop that follows the Riparian Trail, Wooten Loop, and Stelzer Trail. The park features two playgrounds, a visitor center, picnic areas and more. Additional partners for this TRACK trail include Jimbo’s Natural Foods Grocer, and San Diego County Parks Soceity.
